Several people were injured, one with life-threatening injuries, following a two-vehicle crash in Fairfield County.
The crash took place around 11:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 26 at the intersection of Westport Avenue and Dry Hill Road in Norwalk, said Deputy Chief Edward Prescott, of the Norwalk Fire Department.
According to Prescott, when firefighters arrived on the scene they immediately attended to the driver of a Geo Prizm sedan who was pinned under the dashboard and had to be extricated, using multiple hydraulic tools.
The man, in his early 60s, was transported with life-threatening injuries to Norwalk Hospital, Prescott said.
The second car, a Honda Accord, had three or four occupants in their early 20’s, he said.
The driver was transported with injuries, by a second hospital ambulance and the passengers were transported by a Wilton ambulance, for observation.
The extrication was completed in under four minutes and firefighters cleared the scene by midnight, Prescott said.
